New York Times seeks economics/industry reporter

Business Day is looking for a smart, resourceful and energetic reporter to join its economics team, with a focus on industry.

This reporter will be adept at illuminating the economic trends transforming America’s companies, workplaces and consumer habits by conceiving and producing must-read coverage.

An academic background in economics is less important than exceptional story-telling talent, quick reflexes, curiosity, determination and the ability to put developments in social, political and historical context. The candidate should be adept at writing in a variety of formats, able to juggle deadline demands with long-term efforts, and both comfortable and creative with a full set of digital and multimedia tools.

This posting is a union position as classified by the News Guild of New York, the union for news professionals.
