New York Post seeks a social media editor (part-time)

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture and Entertainment like only the Post can – with wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90m unique viewers a month. Over the past 221 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

The New York Post is seeking a part-time Social Media Editor (Saturday & Sunday, 7am-3pm) to join the Audience Development team.

 

Note: The schedule for this role is 7am – 3pm on Saturday & Sunday.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Optimize original site content for social platforms and execute posting across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and more
  • Work with NYPost.com and PageSix.com social media team to identify daily tasks
  • Maintain proficiency and knowledge in latest social media technologies and best practices (i.e. new tools, algorithm changes, platform enhancements)
  • Create short-form vertical videos for platforms including TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook and more

The Ideal Candidate Will Have/be:

  • 1-3 years of experience managing social media accounts with a large audience; publisher experience preferred
  • Basic video editing skills
  • Strong news judgment and excellent writing and copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of digital media trends and emerging platforms
  • Ability to multitask, balance priorities and thrive in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail

Salary Range: $15/hour – $125,000
