The Audience Manager for the Nebraska Journalism Trust will broaden and deepen the audience for our programs and affiliated newsrooms, including the Flatwater Free Press and Silicon Prairie News, to ensure more Nebraskans have access to meaningful local journalism they can trust and rely on.
You’ll work across our organization and play a pivotal role in designing and implementing strategies that shape how we serve more Nebraskans and engage loyal readers in supporting and sustaining local news that matters.
This leadership position will find new and creative ways to reach and engage Nebraskans in our work, with a focus on communities that have been traditionally under or ill-served by Nebraska journalism.
You will design and lead the implementation of our strategies on social media. You will refine and mature our newsletters. On our websites, you will work with our design team to supercharge SEO, improve the user experience and grow traffic. You will implement UX strategies to turn followers into readers, readers into subscribers. You will create opportunities for Nebraskans to become more engaged in our journalism via live events.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is a team player and gifted communicator. Someone who can both conceive of and operationalize strategies — someone who knows when to iterate to improve an approach vs. wiping the slate to start clean.
This position reports to the Executive Director and collaborates closely with both newsroom and revenue teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Grow our audiences and deepen engagement with them on our websites, newsletters, social platforms, and other channels. This may involve earned media and paid advertising.
- Use analytics to shape & evaluate audience development strategies, creating and monitoring key metrics of success.
- Lead SEO and user experience enhancements on our websites to make it easier for people to discover our work.
- Innovate ways to reach and engage Nebraskans in-person, planning and partnering on events to take our journalism on stage and into the community.
Key qualifications:

- At least 3 to 5 years experience growing businesses or brands through social media.
- Understanding of Mailchimp, Google Analytics and other digital marketing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to use data for making informed decisions.
Salary: $60,000-$75,000
