NBC News seeks tech reporter in San Francisco

NBC News is looking for a digitally savvy tech reporter to join our growing Business and Consumer News Team.

The reporter should be able to cover breaking news and develop story ideas. The successful candidate should be a fast writer, and have a keen eye for recognizing good content for both the site and social media.

The candidate should be able to work under pressure and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. The reporter will work as part of team to develop consumer, business and technology coverage, primarily for online. Candidates also must be team players who are comfortable collaborating across platforms. This position will be in San Francisco.

Responsibilities

Respond quickly to breaking stories to publish the latest information online
Research, report and write tech stories for the site and social media
Gather media to accompany print stories
Use data to inform and evolve newsgathering and storytelling
Work with journalists across NBC News to integrate and drive more content
Develop and build sources in the tech community
Collaborate with NBC News digital and television units on newsgathering efforts
Required to live in the San Francisco area

Qualifications/Requirements Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university, preferably in journalism, political science or English
Minimum of 3 years as a reporter, writer, producer and/or editor at a news organization, or a comparable body of freelance work
A strong news background, with some staff newsroom experience
