National Journal seeks tech correspondent

Best known as one of Washington’s most trusted media brands for nearly 50 years, National Journal has unmatched teams of specialists dedicated to government affairs, communications, and political research in addition to exceptional journalism. Our premier products are: National Journal Leadership Council, Hotline, Race Tracker, National Journal Daily, Communications Council, Policy Brands Roundtable, Network Science Initiative and the Presentation Center.

National Journal Daily seeks an energetic, intellectually curious journalist to join our Capitol Hill team. Candidates must have excellent writing skills, an understanding of Congress and the political landscape, and a background covering technology policy at the federal level.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate Include:

  • Experience reporting and writing for a news organization
  • A solid grounding in technology policy
  • The ability to develop sources from Silicon Valley to Capitol Hill and K Street
  • A track record of meeting deadlines and juggling multiple tasks
  • A positive, collaborative approach
  • An interest in learning from, and contributing to, a team
  • A commitment to nonpartisan reporting and writing
  • A strong work ethic, and a desire to excel

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
