Morning Consult seeks editor to oversee advertising/media coverage

Morning Consult is looking to hire an entrepreneurial journalist to launch and edit Morning Consult Brands. Brands is our newest beat, covering the world of advertising, communications and media, and how technology is rapidly changing these industries.

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years experience in a newsroom, preferably in business coverage. Applicants must be able to start in October. Please submit resume, cover letter and relevant clips to meghan@morningconsult.com.

Our journalism seeks out the stories and news that are shaping industry and government. Our polling and market research analyzes trends and facts on the most important issues, and we use technology to bring powerful tools to the decision-makers who are shaping the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Editing newsletters that pull together the top news in advertising, communications and media industries
  • Directing coverage of both commodity and enterprise stories on this beat
  • Brainstorming and writing packages that make use of Morning Consult’s unparalleled market research data
  • Managing one reporter

Skills:

  • 5+ years experience working in a newsroom, preferably in business coverage
  • Strong editing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while paying strict attention to detail
  • Thrives in fast, high pressure environment
Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
