Morning Consult seeks editor to oversee advertising, marketing and media

Morning Consult is looking to hire an experienced editor to lead and manage our data-driven coverage of the advertising, marketing, communications and media industries. We are looking for someone with at several years experience covering the business of marketing/communications, preferably with management experience. Applicants must be able to start in February.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directing coverage of our Brands beat, with a focus on using our own polling data
  • Brainstorming and writing packages that make use of Morning Consult’s unparalleled market research data
  • Editing stories and afternoon newsletters
  • Managing 2-4 reporters

Skills:

  • 5+ years experience covering business of marketing/communications, preferably with some management experience
  • Strong editing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while paying strict attention to detail
  • Thrives in fast, high pressure environment

Compensation:

  • Base salary: negotiable based on experience
  • Helath insurance
  • $50 a month cell phone reimbursement.

  • Salary Bonus- based on personal and company performance.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
