Morning Brew seeks an energetic and enthusiastic writer to cover personal finance for the Money Scoop newsletter, which delivers actionable guidance and wallet-impacting insight to a fast-growing audience of 150,000 subscribers.
This role will be instrumental in the development and execution of stories, series, and editorial packages both within and beyond the Money Scoop newsletter, eventually rolling out to Morning Brew’s 3.3 million readers in 2022.
The ideal candidate is passionate about how financial markets and economic systems affect the everyperson’s wallet. You can deftly communicate insights using data analysis, reporting, and research. This role will ask you to explain the seemingly unexplainable (what is tax-loss harvesting, really?) with precision, clarity, and commitment to accuracy. You’ll also be expected to do so with a voice that engages and excites audiences.
This job will also require you to work cross-functionally with copy editors, fact-checkers, designers, growth and social leads, and engineers.
Because this beat requires heightened diligence, the ideal candidate carries writing/reporting experience and either work experience in personal financial services or relevant academic credentials. Candidates who have worked as financial advisors or hold a CFP, CPA, CFA, or master’s degree in a business field (finance, accounting, economics, statistics) are preferred. Candidates who are passionate and educated in personal finance are still encouraged to apply, even if they don’t meet all of these requirements.
