Morning Brew seeks an emerging tech reporter

Morning Brew is a media company that covers the business news and narratives shaping our world. The companies, the people, the workplace, the economy — we nerd out on this stuff, and we’re dedicated to helping our audience navigate it all in a way that informs and entertains.
The Morning Brew team is clever, creative, and growing fast. Want in? Read on.
Emerging Tech Brew is a newsletter-based publication that keeps over 300,000 professionals informed about what’s next in technology.
From autonomous vehicles to lab-grown meat, we’re focused on uncovering and telling stories that help readers understand how the future of technology is unfolding, today.
We’re looking for a reporter to take this mission and run with it. That means identifying the people and companies developing cutting-edge tech, pinpointing the unforeseen consequences of new technologies, and deepening our professional audience’s understanding of how emerging tech works, and how it will impact them.
Here’s what you’ll do:
– Pitch, report, and write stories for the Emerging Tech Brew newsletter, which goes out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
– Generate ideas for report web-first, non-newsletter content, like investigative pieces, features, and evergreen content.
– Define a beat within emerging tech, and building up a deep and broad source network that will keep you at the leading edge of your coverage area.
Qualifications:
– Interest and expertise in business writing and reporting (added plus for those who have directly covered the tech industry);
– 2+ years of reporting experience
– Ability to write in the Morning Brew style (engaging, informative, clever)
– Understanding of how to analyze and draw conclusions from structured and unstructured data
– Understanding of how to leverage multiple platforms (email, social media, etc.) to engage with the target audience
– Self-starter attitude with ability to operate in a collaborative, quickly-changing environment
– Combination of attention to detail and creative, strategic thinking
– Excellent communication skills with a mindset for collaboration
– Ability to operate in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines
What else are we looking for?
Character and integrity rank pretty high on the list. Our team is guided by our core values:
·       Curious – We strive to learn every day through constant questioning and exploration.
·       Purposeful – We do everything with the highest level of thoughtfulness, preparation and focus.
·       Empathetic – We are good, genuine people who embrace others’ perspectives.
·       Challengers – We approach every day with an underdog mentality and are never complacent.
