Money seeks writer in New York

Money is seeking a writer to help oversee its social media and SEO efforts and audience growth.

This role would be responsible for growing and engaging Money’s audience of more than 6 million monthly unique visitors.

The ideal candidate will have a journalism background and must have at least one year of professional experience in online journalism, preferably with branded social media accounts. S/he must be aware of digital media trends, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, comfortable working collaboratively and eager to learn.

You will:

  • Oversee social media publishing and produce content for all of MONEY’s social media accounts
  • Work closely with MONEY editors and writers to optimize content for social and search
  • Teach writers and editors best practices for headlines, social media and SEO, sharing data and learnings from social and search teams
  • Enforce MONEY’s voice and tone
  • Engage with MONEY’s social media communities and assist projects that build relationships with our audience
  • Assist in developing social media strategy for MONEY’s franchises and special projects
  • Follow breaking news and collaborate with editors and writers to generate content and promote new and existing stories
  • Collaborate with other audience engagement teams to reach new audiences
  • Identify emerging trends, networks and ideas in the social media world

You have:

  • Excellent understanding of how to grow an audience, and proven understanding of social media and SEO best practices
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Sharp headline and social media writing skills

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
