Money seeks a special projects editor

Money seeks a special projects editor to lead the brand’s ranking and franchise packages in our New York office. Our ideal candidate is a strong leader and editor who’s passionate in telling compelling personal finance stories about how we use money in our daily life, with an emphasis on how readers can spend smarter and live richer.

Our Special Projects Editor will be charged with spearheading Money’s biggest franchises, include “Best Places to Live,” “Best Colleges,” “Best in Travel,” “Best Credit Cards,” and “Best Banks,” along with developing new rankings that will create meaningful revenue opportunities. This role will work closely with the Executive Editor to ensure the packages maintain the high standards readers have come to expect from them, as they are often used by people to make educated financial decisions.

The ideal candidate has experience managing long-term editorial projects, the use of data to tell stories, and can collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to deliver editorial projects that will be read by millions. She/he must be able to multitask by securing data partners, editing copy, as well as managing staff reporters and freelancers to ensure stories meet hard deadlines.

Serve as the project manager and edit lead for Money’s flagship franchises. Work with external partners and internal staff to create dynamic editorial packages that readers will love and the sales team can monetize.

Work with staff writers on daily assignments; be a partner with the senior edit team to execute Money’s brand vision on a daily basis. Work with the senior edit team to help develop new franchises and rankings

10%

Manage budgets, manage reporters, and recruit and manager top freelancers.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

Minimum of 7-8 years in digital media, ideally with a focus on personal finance and culture/lifestyle.

Specific Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Skilled in top editing, writing highly-clickable display copy, writing engaging content, SEO, newsletters, CMS, social media, video execution, Google Analytics, Chartbeat and other similar analytics tools, and with management experience.
