The beat involves coverage of trade regulation in the EU. MLex seeks to get ahead of the procedural story through deep-dive analyses of legislation to anticipate where regulatory problems may lie. Responsibilities:
- Lead coverage of EU AI regulation, delivering timely, accurate, and insightful reporting.
- Break exclusive stories and produce forward-looking analysis for a global readership.
- Write both quick-turn news and in-depth commentary on legislative risks and other relevant topics.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Europe, the US, and Asia to shape and lead editorial direction.
- Manage a small team of reporters in Brussels and support junior colleagues internationally.
Requirements:
- Proven experience of more than 8 years in journalism, ideally with a focus on AI, tech, EU affairs or regulatory reporting.
- Strong news judgment and ability to identify emerging issues.
- Solid track record of breaking news
- Excellent writing skills in English; additional European languages (particularly French, Spanish, Italian, German) are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
- People skills to manage a small team of reporters.
- Commitment to inclusive reporting and respectful engagement with all communities.
