Missouri daily seeks a business reporter

Do you love chasing down story leads and breaking news? Are you a self-starter who enjoys working at a fast pace?

The Southeast Missourian is looking for a business reporter to cover a thriving business community. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who is fair-minded and enjoys networking with those in the business community.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to write breaking news, feature stories and analysis pieces with precision accuracy. At least three years of experience of daily newspaper reporting is preferred, but not required.

The Southeast Missourian consistently earns awards among the best in the nation for newspapers its size. Cape Girardeau is located about 90 minutes south of St. Louis and is the largest city between St. Louis and Memphis.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
