The reporter would also cover Wisconsin’s startup and tech communities, entrepreneurship and venture capital.
The ideal candidate would be able to break news as well as to do deep-dive explanatory and watchdog stories on all facets of these topics: for example, for-profit educational institutions, government financing of economic development, college loan financing schemes, how to begin building savings and investments.
Applicants must be able to tell stories in a compelling way with all available tools — text, photos, audio, video, data visualizations — and build a community of interest around the beat through social media, newsletters and other approaches. A collaborative attitude is essential.
The position includes a Saturday or Sunday shift as a general assignment reporter on the News Hub.
All interested should apply to Chuck Melvin, assistant managing editor/business and local news, chuck.melvin@jrn.com, 414-224-2150, by Monday, June 12.
