Michigan paper seeks business editor

The Traverse City Record-Eagle seeks a talented, experienced Business Editor for a key role in an outstanding, award-winning newsroom.

The Business Editor reports to the Executive Editor and is responsible for managing and producing daily business news coverage, including two six-page sections each week.

The successful candidate will be an excellent writer, reporter and editor who can turn insightful trend pieces, features and profiles with equal skill for print and digital products.

The Business Editor also will be an important member of the newsroom management team, must have at least five years experience at a daily newspaper, be an excellent communicator and possess solid digital media skills.

The Record-Eagle is a seven-day home delivery newspaper in beautiful northern Michigan that also embraces all digital news delivery platforms. We offer a competitive wage as well as a full benefits package including 401K.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
