Silicon Valley’s leading weekly seeks experienced editor for key editorial position. Ideal candidate will have both an eye for detail and creative chops, and be skilled in digital media technologies.
This position is responsible for the editorial department’s day-to-day operations and works closely with executive editor and arts editor to produce weekly issue as well as populate digital channels with quality original content.
Candidate should have a working knowledge of Silicon Valley’s communities and be prepared to immerse themselves in its culture. Managing editor will conceive of and assign cover stories, review pitches, assign and select art, skillfully edit submissions, write heads and captions, maintain a schedule of upcoming stories and interact with freelance artists, photographers and writers.
The person who fills this position will directly oversee Metro’s dining and feature coverage, special publications and signature issues such as Best of Silicon Valley and will be fully immersed in the associated digital sphere, coordinating and optimizing the distribution of content on the web and via newsletters and social media. She or he should be willing to get out and recruit talent to bring new voices to Metro and keep publication’s style and tone contemporary and fresh.
