The editor will act as our team leader in the Chicago office, overseeing day-to-day editorial operations for Mergermarket, Dealreporter. They will play a key role in efforts to build our presence in Chicago, and across the Midwest, via developing key external relationships and participating in industry events.
Key responsibilities
- Managing Chicago-based reporters; accountable for daily/weekly team performance, as well as hiring, training and development of staff
- Regular external meetings to develop sources and establish strong relationships with key firms that will help build our presence.
- Writing/editing content for MM/DR & related products across the coverage cycle. Mid-market & private equity-related content will be key focuses for expansion from the office, though we will be looking to drive content in many areas for subscribers of our products
- Working closely with regional editors & sector heads to ensure we have the right amount of coverage in key sectors and coverage areas
- Attending, and speaking at, industry events to help build our brand in Chicago
- Working with commercial teams and meeting subscribers to receive feedback on content needs
- Working closely with other products to develop cross-product synergies for the Chicago office

- Proven knowledge of M&A and private equity with strong track record of reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of three years of business journalism experience
- Management experience preferred
- Editing experience preferred
