MassLive Media seeks a business trend reporter

MassLive, the largest digital news website in Massachusetts, seeks a Boston-trends reporter with an emphasis on the region’s biotech industry, health sector and the state’s evolving economy.

The ideal candidate will be plugged into the Boston business community, able to develop key sources and contacts, and regularly produce both quick-hit and in-depth enterprise stories.

You should apply if you:

  • Are a reporter who can work with speed, creativity, accuracy and good judgement.
  • Have experience covering business-related stories, preferably in Boston.
  • Engage on social media platforms regularly and follow trends.
  • Have humility, a sense of humor, relentless curiosity and bring passion to your reporting.
  • Have skills in digital storytelling via text, photo and video.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in Journalism or Communications or related field experience with a proven ability in journalism reporting and writing required
  • Proven experience building, maintaining and engaging an active audience
  • Ability to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritize tasks appropriately
  • Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure
  • Demonstrated capability in capitalizing on high-value topics by engaging audiences in frequency and urgency
  • Mastery of social media and digital interaction
  • Proven ability to utilize a broad set of tools to tell stories and engage the audience
