Marketwatch.com seeks news editor in New York

MarketWatch.com seeks an editor for its New York newsroom with strong copy editing skills, a punchy writing style, and a willingness to aggressively rewrite copy on deadline.

The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in online news, a knack for helping to tease out sharp angles and distill stories to their essence. He or she should also be adept at crafting engaging, edgy headlines that also happen to be SEO-friendly.

A nose for news — in the forms of both instinct and productive use of audience analytics — will be necessary in this position, as will flexibility, enthusiasm, a collaborative nature and a sense of humor.

Those with knowledge of markets and finance, as well as topics in personal finance, will receive strongest consideration. A willingness to work some weekend hours is also a plus. Familiarity with Associated Press or Wall Street Journal style is expected.

Please include a resume and cover letter with your online application.
