MarketWatch.com seeks media and money reporter

MarketWatch seeks a media industry reporter to cover the vicious competition for eyeballs in an era of shriveling attention spans and infinite choice.

This reporter will seek stories at the intersection of media and money, chronicling the changing landscape as legacy film, TV, and print companies face off against tech giants.

The right candidate possesses a passion for digging into the financials, parsing the investment plans that are making Netflix so formidable, while at the same time exploring the technological, cultural and social changes that are shaking up all media and entertainment.

This reporter should have at least five years of experience, ideally with a background covering business and financial news. The position is based in New York.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
