MarketWatch.com seeks a reporter to help cover the important fixed-income markets, including benchmark Treasurys, corporate bonds and bond funds.
The ideal candidate has proven experience reporting in the fixed-income space and is good at cultivating sources and penning exclusive/breaking copy. Candidates will be able to articulate the nuances of yield curves and bond convexity for the pro as well as the casual business reader. MarketWatch is looking for someone nimble, who can juggle between real-time news, spot analysis, and columns without missing a beat – and also one who can deliver news in a breezy, easy-to-understand manner.
He or she should understand the importance of social media in business journalism. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable telling stories about numbers either through words, pictures, charts, Tweets, Instagrams, or all of the above.
Beyond the fixed-income space, the candidate should be eager to jump in with new ideas that will help MarketWatch retain its place in the cutting edge of digital journalism. A good sense of humor and an ability to act with grace under pressure are key. In your cover letter –please describe how your background dovetails with the job description and offer your best new ideas for MarketWatch.
The position is based in New York.
