MarketWatch is looking for a New York-based reporter to cover the financial services sector, including banks, insurers, brokers, payment systems and the many companies that serve them.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of building sources, generating market-moving scoops and providing spot analysis on the sector . He or she will also be a social media maven with aggressive engagement on Twitter, LinkedIn and other relevant social platforms, and an understanding of how to use social media as a reporting tool.
Position Requirements: The beat will have a strong investment focus. The successful candidate will look for stories that go beyond fundamentals to help our core base of professional and retail investors make investment decisions.
He or she will track the changes that are happening across the sector in the new regulatory and operating environment that has followed the financial crisis. He or she will also contribute to MarketWatch’s company coverage in the early morning, covering news in real time as it breaks and getting an early read on how financial stocks are behaving.
