MarketWatch.com seeks a trending money reporter

June 15, 2021

Posted by Chris Roush

MarketWatch seeks a reporter who can stake a claim to the biggest and most talked-about news of the day. This writer should possess an intuitive feel for the essence of stories and why people share them, and be able to write in a punchy voice marked by a wicked sense of the absurd.

At MarketWatch we believe every story is a money story, and that everyone should care about markets and finance even if the only shares they’ve ever bought or sold are rideshares. This journalist’s mission will be to live that philosophy on a beat at the intersection of money and the zeitgeist, making a point to ask three key questions: Who is getting rich? Who is getting screwed? And why should anyone care?

This reporter must be willing to experiment with new formats and platforms for telling stories, and be willing to chip in on breaking news as part of a collaborative newsroom.

We’re looking for someone with at least three years of reporting experience, a passion for business and financial news, and the color green.

The position will ideally be based in New York, but given that geography has been rendered somewhat irrelevant we will consider candidates from elsewhere if you can make a case that your location can be an asset to our coverage.
