MarketWatch.com seeks a personal finance reporter

MarketWatch.com seeks a reporter for its personal finance team who can filter the news of the day through a single question: ‘What does this mean for me and my money?’

It’s what readers of every news story wonder on some level, and in a financial climate with boundless opportunity for bad decision making, answering it has never been more important.

The ideal candidate is adept at explaining complex topics in a clear, punchy voice, and is eager to not only break news, but help readers make sense of it. We’re particularly interested in a journalist with experience covering litigation, who knows how to sift through filings to find great stories of financial abuses and inequities.

This reporter will be given the latitude to build and evolve her own mini beat within the lens of personal finance – and that is a fairly wide lens, since ultimately every story is on some level a money story.

The position, based in our New York office, requires at least three years journalism experience, strong writing skills, an interest in finance, and a keen understanding of how to engage readers.
