“Marketplace” seeks senior producer in LA

The digital senior producer oversees Marketplace’s expansion of digital products and develops and drives future strategy. S/he works alongside the executive producer and managing editor to shape Marketplace’s digital offerings including Marketplace.org, apps, podcasts and social media channels. S/he ensures Marketplace’s high editorial standards and connects Marketplace’s content with new audiences.

The digital senior producer is creative, enthusiastic, bold and well-versed in modern, digital journalism. S/he is interested in innovation and advancements in media, mobile technology, and social media.

S/he also has a proven track record in hiring and managing a team, as well as a demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with colleagues.

Position Responsibility:

  • Further develop and execute Marketplace’s digital strategy, consistent with overall Marketplace and APM plans.
  • Work with executive producer, managing editor and show producers to create compelling content and cohesive Marketplace voice across all digital platforms.
  • Editorial oversight of all digital content.
  • Help develop and execute strategies to substantially increase audience
  • Help integrate radio staff to deliver material to web and other non-radio platforms
  • Help develop and communicates the vision for the service
  • Lead and develop a team that: Develop and maintain relationships with other media outlets to expand Marketplace’s reach and identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration.
    • Inspires creativity, innovation and iteration.
    • Promotes an enthusiastic and ambitious working environment.
    • Embraces diversity in staff.
    • Creates a culture of constructive feedback and performance coaching.
    • Develops individualized development goals and plans with staff.
  • Work with the Creative Director Digital to develop rich mobile digital offerings.
