Market News International, a global financial news service, is looking for an experienced, dynamic journalist with strong analytical skills to cover the European Central Bank, reporting on monetary and related macroeconomic policy for a sophisticated investing audience.
Based in Frankfurt, this person will demonstrate tenacity in pursuing intelligence on ECB and related Eurozone policy of importance to our clients in the global fixed income and foreign exchange markets. The ideal candidate will have an impressive grasp of the current policy debate, including the technical aspects of central banking, and will be able to report exclusive breaking news stories as well as connect the dots for readers with insightful analysis pieces.
The ability to cultivate sources at the ECB and other Eurozone macroeconomic agencies up to the highest level is imperative, as is the ability to weigh sourced information carefully and accurately. A crisp and precise writing style is essential.
What we are looking for:
- Educated to degree standard with a macroeconomics component
- Minimum five year reporting experience writing about economics or finance.
- At least three years’ experience covering the European Central Bank.
- Already-developed sources within the Eurosystem, with ability to leverage relationships to produce exclusive stories that move markets.
- Experience breaking exclusive stories, providing ECB analysis desirable.
- Knowledge of Eurozone economy would be a plus.
- Complete fluency (written and verbal) in English and willingness to undergo a writing test.
- Working knowledge of German required.
