Maine Trust for Local News seeks a photojournalist

The Maine Trust for Local News is seeking a skilled and professional photojournalist to join its newsroom staff for the Morning Sentinel newspaper in Waterville, Maine, and Centralmaine.com.

  • This photojournalist will cover a wide variety of subject matter through compelling visual storytelling.
  • From spot news, to sports, business, features and long-term projects
  • This position requires a mixture of technical skills, strong news judgment and situational tenacity.
  • The photojournalist must be able to work collaboratively with editors and reporters to achieve the best possible pictures on tight deadlines, while interacting professionally with staff and the broader public.
  • Video skills are a plus as well, to complement stories that call for more than photos only.
  • Applicants must also be willing to work nights and weekends, with this position focusing heavily on in-season high school sports assignments.

This photojournalist will also be encouraged to pursue their own photo projects, in consultation with the supervising editor, that use visual storytelling to illuminate a trend or issue.
