Are you seeking a great journalism opportunity with a collaborative team?  The Longview Daily News is seeking a full time talented copy editor who excels at editing local stories, wire copy and photo cutlines to join our news team to ensure a high quality paper is published.

Responsibilities & Skills:

• We are seeking candidates skilled at writing captions and headlines that are specific, creative, accurate and captivating
• Are able to work as a team to identify and correct copy errors with spelling, grammar and syntax
• Are able to utilize strong judgment to rewrite or modify copy as needed in AP style and to pull wire stories and prepare them for publication.
• The successful candidate will be digital savvy, detail oriented, precise
• Has the ability to meet deadlines
• Has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with editors, peers and the Lee Design Center
• Experience with a daily paper and a Bachelor’s degree in journalism or English is preferred
• New graduates are welcome to apply.
• InDesign experience is helpful.

Beauty and activities abound!  We are located about 45 minutes North of Portland, Oregon. Just south, you can find the Columbia River Gorge and the Pacific Ocean is about a one our drive to the West.  Mount St. Helens and surrounding lakes and mountains are only one hour East.   The Longview Daily News was present when Mount St. Helens erupted, and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize and other awards for the coverage of this significant event.
