Long Beach Business Journal seeks reporter

The Long Beach Business Journal, founded in March 1987, is a biweekly (every other Tuesday) newsmagazine covering the greater Long Beach area.

We are seeking a full-time staff writer to cover a wide range of industries. We service an area that includes the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, the Long Beach Airport, three major hospitals, a growing creative sector and an expanding hospitality/tourism industry, which includes the Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific and much more.

We also focus on city hall issues impacting the business community. We are looking for a writer who can write hard news stories and feature articles and handle several assignments at once.

A suitable candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, experience with social media platforms and a strong ability to conduct research independently. Diligent organizational skills are imperative to this role.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
