Local News Now is seeking a creative and go-getting food and drink editor for our local news publications in Northern Virginia.

The editor will primarily report on local restaurants and events for our flagship ARLnow site, covering Arlington. The editor will also provide some dining coverage for our Alexandria and Fairfax County sites.

Additionally, the editor will help launch innovative reader engagement initiatives around our food and drink coverage.

Other potential responsibilities include:

  • Creating short-form videos for posting on Instagram, TikTok and other social media channels
  • Helping to plan and launch an “ARLnow Dining Club”
  • Hosting occasional dining-related events

Applicants must have at least a year of professional experience in a relevant reporting/editing role to be considered for this position.

Photography and social media skills are required. Knowledge of how to use WordPress, Slack, Asana, Photoshop and other digital tools is desired.

This is a full-time, salaried position with health/dental/vision benefits. The initial salary range is $55,000-$65,000, depending on experience, with yearly bonus eligibility.

Our team lives locally and most work remotely, with periodic meetups. After an initial orientation period, this will be a fully remote position with the option to work from the office and the expectation that you live within easy commuting distance to Arlington.
