Local News Now is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented reporter and editor to join our ten-person team in Northern Virginia.
The reporter/editor will primarily report local news across a range of topics — from in-depth local government stories to restaurant openings to breaking news — for our flagship site, ARLnow, covering Arlington, Virginia. Other responsibilities include filling in as site editor during vacations; assisting with editing of intern and freelance work, as well as that of other staffers; assisting with training; and helping with community engagement.
This is not an entry level position and applicants must have at least a year of professional experience to be considered, though more is preferred. Prior editing experience and existing local knowledge of the D.C. area is also preferred. Knowledge of how to use Wordpress, Tweetdeck, Google Analytics, Slack, Asana, Photoshop and other digital tools is desired but not required.
As our sites evolve and our company grows, additional skills may be beneficial. Please note if you have any of the following (optional) experience:
This is a full-time, salaried position with health/dental/vision benefits. Our team lives locally but most work remotely, with periodic meetups and an open invitation to work from our transit-accessible office at any time. This position is generally expected to work from our office at least 2-3 times per week, but we would entertain applications from those who know the D.C. area well but wish to live elsewhere and work remotely.
To apply, please send either a resume or a link to your Linkedin profile, along with a brief synopsis of why you are well-suited for this role in the email body, to jobs@lnnllc.com.
