Local Daily Media seeks a community reporter, entry level

Local Daily Media is seeking a multimedia journalist for our local news publication, Port City Daily (PCD).

We are seeking a motivated candidate who is passionate about journalism and especially government reporting. This candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is able to adapt in the ever-changing world of digital production.

Duties:

  •  Conduct research and interviews
  •  Write multiple news articles and/or features daily
  •  Build professional relationships within the communities that we serve
  •  Shoot photographs and/or videos to accompany the written word
  •  Provide content for presentation on a variety of digital platforms (WordPress, social media, etc.)
  •  Work independently to meet deadlines and exceed expectations
  •  Maintain regular communication with the editor regarding creative planning and performance
  •  Attend meetings
  •  Other duties as assigned

Requirements:  

  •  An associate’s degree or comparable experience
  •  Strong collaborative and communication skills
  •  Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  •  A commitment to digital and multimedia storytelling
  •  An organized self-starter who works well independently
  •  Seek original story ideas and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  •  Meet measurable goals as set forth by editor
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and within flexible hours that may include nights, holidays and weekends

Salary: $15/hour
