LinkedIn seeks tech editor in Germany

LinkedIn is looking for a journalist who wants to help define the future of how German-speaking professionals create, curate and consume business content.

The LinkedIn editorial team drives the Influencer program — where the world’s top professional voices share their insights — and helps steer the content that flows through LinkedIn. The mission of a LinkedIn editor centers on the three Cs: Curate, Create, Cultivate. As the DACH editor, you’ll help German-speaking professionals get the news they need to be better at what they do and get them writing what they know in order to drive the business conversation. In this role, you will contribute frequent posts on the tech industry and assist the DACH senior editor in curating the business news of the day for LinkedIn.

The News Editor should be familiar with the German and global tech and startup scenes and be able to write quickly and frequently on that industry.

You should have experience with original and curated news, have incredibly strong news sense, be knowledgeable about business content, be a sharp and quick writer and editor, a quick learner and, most importantly, have an entrepreneurial spirit. You should be comfortable with social media, and able to quickly turn around articles on trending business news that attract online readers and deliver valuable insights. The ideal candidate is as interested in shaping a product as shaping a story.

You will join a dynamic team who is building something brand new in business news and get a fast education in new media platforms and entrepreneurial journalism. The position is based in Munich, reporting to LinkedIn’s international editor and working with teams in New York, San Francisco, Paris, London, Sao Paulo, Bangalore and Sydney.

Responsibilities:

  • Write frequent business news articles and opinion essays, especially on the tech industry
  • Help curate LinkedIn for German-speaking members
  • Assist in handling relationships with Influencers and publishers to make sure their content is feeding into LinkedIn
  • Find and encourage industry experts to use the LinkedIn publishing platform
  • Spot and predict trends important to business content readers and creators
  • Generate analysis on what’s working and what’s not and come up with ways to increase engagement through content

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in writing and editing
  • Experience in journalism (with business journalism and online media preferred)
  • Business fluent in German and English

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the German and global tech industry
  • Experience with original and curated news
  • Deep knowledge of business news and content
  • Experience in dealing with business leaders
  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
  • Ability to shape products and stories
  • Ability to deal with top people in various fields
  • Experience with business journalism
  • Experience in online media
