Mid-Valley Media in the heart of Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley, seeks an education and general assignment reporter. If you love finding news that matters to hometown readers, we’d like to hear from you.
Reporters cover all sorts of stories, from breaking news to in-depth stories that examine important issues in the community. The education beat is especially dynamic, covering K-12 school districts in both blue and red towns and, with Oregon State University, higher education. At the Corvallis Gazette-Times and Albany Democrat-Herald, we consider education to be among the most important beats.
We’ll consider both experienced and entry-level applicants, as long as you’re dedicated to writing news that connects with readers. As part of our ambitious staff, you’ll hustle to break news on our web and mobile platforms, while pursuing insightful, high-impact enterprise. You’ll need an inquisitive mind, sharp writing skills and an appreciation for life in a small college town with a farm-to-table vibe. Photo and social media skills would be a plus.
The typical work week may include a weekend shift. As part of Lee Enterprises, Mid-Valley Media offers excellent earnings potential and a full benefits package, along with a professional work environment focused on growth opportunities for employees. We are an equal opportunity employer and a drug-free workplace.
To be considered, please attach links or examples of previously published articles.
Qualifications: All applicants considered for employment must pass a post-offer drug screen and a background/DMV check prior to commencing employment. Please apply online at www.lee.net/careers.
