Lee Enterprises seeks a regional editor, Columbus Telegram & Fremont Tribune

Lee Enterprises, Inc. is seeking an editor who is adept as a player/coach to lead the news teams at the Columbus Telegram and Fremont Tribune. The ideal candidate has the ability to inspire the newsroom to grow our audience by reporting impactful and unmatched local news for print and digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • The editor is responsible for planning, developing and implementing news coverage strategy including breaking news, enterprise stories, sports, and features.
  • This position plans the story budget
  • Ensures stories are ready for immediate digital posting
  • Ensures an effective workflow
  • Edits stories
  • Produces content as needed.
  • The successful candidate will have supervisory experience
  • Is able to juggle the demands of digital and print journalism.

Fremont and Columbus are located Northwest of Omaha and Lincoln, which provides smaller town living with big city amenities close by.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Skill in making appropriate judgement calls
  • Ability to supervise a team
  • Meet deadlines
  • Identify and publish paper and digital news to meet the requirements of our readers.
