Lee Enterprises seeks a features/trending reporter, Richmond Times Dispatch

The Richmond Times-Dispatch is seeking an energetic, experienced reporter to join our Features department. The ideal candidate will write about trending topics around town, including breaking news, arts and entertainment, nightlife, music, dining, human interest and culture.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer with a passion for storytelling. The ideal candidate will be able to identify trends and buzzworthy topics and turn stories around quickly for web and print. We are looking for a smart, savvy wordsmith who can post multiple short stories per day while simultaneously working on larger projects for print and web.

The ideal candidate will have the:

  • Ability to work under strict deadline schedule and juggle multiple projects at once
  • Intuitive ability to spot and identify trends and up-and-coming subjects for coverage
  • Experience interviewing subjects, researching, fact-checking and packaging content for various platforms
  • Excellent writing and fact-checking skills
  • Proficient with AP Style, experience with Content Management Systems, SEO, basic HTML
  • Two years newsroom experience minimum
  • Video and multimedia experience a plus

This position will work an afternoon shift into the evening, covering breaking news for the website while also working on the arts and entertainment beat.
