Law Technology News seeks editor

ALM is seeking an experienced top editor for Law Technology News (LTN). LTN is a multiplatform brand with a daily website, several digital newsletters, a mobile application, social media and a bimonthly print magazine. Its readership includes lawyers, IT managers, vendors, paralegals and support staff seeking to keep apace of legal technology trends and developments in electronic discovery.

We are looking for a smart, creative, energetic and tech-oriented editor to drive and grow our brand via its digital and print outlets.

Job Description:
• Responsible for writing, assigning and editing short-form daily content (breaking news, trend articles, info-graphics and other charts, product reviews and commentary) and longer-form content (profiles, survey-based stories, case studies, etc.) for the daily website and bimonthly print magazine.
• Work with the design department on visualizations and multiplatform storytelling
• Collaborate with our in-house events team on Legal Tech (ALM’s signature legal technology trade show)
• Coordinate with events team on branded recognition awards and related events and cultivate a unified editorial voice for the LTN outlets.
• Manage a small team of reporters, oversee a freelance/contributing editor calendar/budget and report directly to senior management.
• Responsible for increasing traffic, engagement and circulation for LTN.
• Regularly represent ALM by attending and serving on discussion panels at legal technology conferences and trade shows around the country.
• Excellent presentation skills are a must.
• The editor will at times work remotely to maintain the publication schedule from the road.

Requirements:
• The ideal candidate will be technology-obsessed.
• At least 5 years of experience in online or print media and news editing as well as experience with surveys or data journalism.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
