Responsibilities:
This is a general assignment entertainment news position. This reporter will help the team cover the major media companies as they navigate big changes in consumer habits and will be asked to develop authority on and own several crucial more specialized beats. Possible areas of focus include tracking important stories on the Hollywood labor front, including the current standoff between writers and agents, and covering film set safety and diversity in the workplace.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have at least five years of reporting experience, preferably in the media business, and a track record of cultivating sources and landing scoops. They must be able to write quickly and accurately on deadline, and should be comfortable producing a range of story types, from quick news items to comprehensive and illuminating profiles, from lucid news analysis to enterprise investigation. They must also be comfortable working occasional nights and weekends as news dictates.
Ideal candidates will also be:
*Extremely curious about where the entertainment industry is headed
*Full of inventive ideas about how to cover the industry as it changes
*Familiar with the cast of characters running Hollywood and eager to bring them to life for readers
*Game to experiment and try new things
*Collegial
*Competitive—there are a lot of strong newsrooms on this beat, and we are coming for them
* Must work effectively in a team environment
