LA Business Journal seeks retail, manufacturing and trade reporter

The Los Angeles Business Journal seeks an aggressive and sophisticated reporter for our retail, manufacturing and trade beat. We want someone who can regularly scoop the competition on breaking news and set the pace on analytical coverage that provides readers the context they need to understand a dynamic market driven by both local and global influences. Coverage ranges from the Fashion District downtown, to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, to the ports of L.A. and Long Beach.

We want someone who can tell readers why there’s a boom in counterfeit lipstick, break the story when a local manufacturing plant is closing, and explain why brick-and-mortar shops are surviving despite the growth of e-commerce.

The Los Angeles Business Journal is the leading source of information for the community of business in the greater Los Angeles area, and we need a reporter with the drive, skills and personality to build a network of sources among big retailers, up-and-comers, the manufacturers that supply them, and all the ancillary people and businesses that facilitate trade in the region.

Prior experience on retail, trade, manufacturing or a related beat is helpful. A minimum of two years at a daily, weekly or online business publication and familiarity with basic principles of business journalism is preferred.
