KWQC TV6 seeks a news reporter

KWQC TV6 is the legacy broadcast and digital news organization in the Davenport IA, Rock Island/Moline, IL market, serving the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. KWQC, owned and operated by Gray Television, has consistently been the top-rated station for news and weather information. The operation produces content for multiple platforms around the clock. Beat: Mississippi River Basin focused on Iowa and Illinois

Position:

The Mississippi River Basin is a defining feature of the Quad Cities, which encompasses rural and urban communities on both sides of the River in Iowa and Illinois. The river is a crucial resource for multiple businesses and industries and is vital to improving community health and wellness. Flooding continues to be a significant challenge for communities, with much disagreement about the best ways to protect riverfront districts, homes and businesses. This environmental reporter investigates policies and regulations impacting the river basin, and explores potential solutions to ensure its sustainability. The reporter works in multiple platforms including broadcast, digital and social media.

Salary and Benefits:
$37,440-$41,600

Corps members will receive the same benefits provided to all Gray Television employees. Benefits are available after 30 days of employment. Paid Time Off (PTO) hours are accrued at the beginning of each month, totaling 14 days in the first year, 17.5 days in year two. In addition, the company observes 9 annual holidays. Gray offers a no-cost PPO health insurance plan as well as affordable options for an upgraded health plan that includes vision and dental. All benefits are offered in accordance with company policies.

Corp members will be provided with the technology required to complete their work, including computers, cameras and editing equipment, station cell phone and use of a company vehicle for assignments. Gray Television also offers an excellent on-line Multi-Media Journalist training program in addition to local newsroom mentorship.
