The Kansas City Star is seeking a business reporter to join its news team.
This reporter will cover a range of breaking metro and regional news, with a focus on local startup companies and area development issues. There will also be an emphasis on speed and the use of all available digital storytelling techniques to build online presentations as stories unfold. The reporter will be expected to also quickly execute vital news enterprise stories as warranted.
Job candidates must aggressively use social media both to report out and promote their stories, and demonstrate competence in shooting and editing video. They must write crisp, compelling copy free of jargon.
The ability to mine data will be considered a plus.
