The Kansas City Media Collective is looking for someone who can help manage collaborative reporting projects between six different non-profit journalism and journalism adjacent organizations. You are someone who thrives when you are creative problem solving, and implementing sustainable systems that deliver impactful journalism. You are comfortable serving as a neutral third-party and balancing different interests.
What you’ll do:
- Act as the central point of contact for all collaborative communications for the KCMC.
- Help facilitate conversations among the collaborative members about reporting priorities.
- Track story pitches and ensures the necessary people and resources are available.
- Design workflows to encourage content distribution across the collaborative members’ platforms.
- Schedule and manage meetings with collaborative partners.
- Coordinate any future events (virtual or in-person), working closely with community organizations.
- Manage administrative and budgeting duties.

What you get:
- This is a 1-year contract position without benefits except for optional participation in the 403(b) retirement. Consideration for an extension of the contract will occur. The ideal candidate will start immediately.
- The contract will pay $29.00 per hour for a 25-hour-per-week position for one year.
- Flexibility is a key feature of this job, with the opportunity for a hybrid mix of remote and in-person work along with flexible scheduling.
