Iowa business journal seeks freelancers

The Corridor Business Journal, Eastern Iowa’s business weekly, is an award-winning newspaper that produces much more than business reports. We also create content for specialty and digital magazines on a variety of topics. We are looking for experienced writers who are excellent storytellers.

We are looking to hire web-savvy enthusiastic writers who are willing to research, write and meet deadlines and goals. Candidates must be timely when delivering stories and write compelling articles.

Requirements: bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, experience writing for news or multimedia publications, Microsoft Office proficient, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines. Must have strong copy editing skills and ensure copy is well-written and grammatically correct, check facts and communicate any issues with editor.

Candidates must be located in eastern Iowa with a knowledge of the area. Must be self starters who work well independently.  Must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
