Investor’s Business Daily seeks a video producer

Investor’s Business Daily is seeking a highly creative video producer to join its content team to focus on the production of daily videos, balancing planned stories and spot news coverage.

The position is remote or based in NY/LA and reports to the Executive Editor, Multimedia.

The video producer is responsible for writing, producing, and editing highly engaging and informative markets content and evergreen business and finance-focused videos. Top candidates for this position will have a professional background in business journalism, demonstrate exceptional producing and editing skills, have excellent editorial judgment, and experience writing for and producing on-camera talent. The video producer must also develop working knowledge of IBD’s investing methodology.

You will:

  • Be responsible for pitching, producing and editing long and short form business, finance and markets videos.
  • Research topics, write questions and scripts, conduct pre-interviews and interviews, select soundbites and record voiceovers for video packages and social clips.
  • Assist with coordinating the day-to-day workflow of video production, including content creation, scheduling, guest/source booking, scripting, production and post-production.
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, video journalists and graphic artists across our newsroom to ensure the IBD’s unique and unbiased understanding of market news and expert analysis is reflected in every video published.
  • Produce livestream content and live-to-tape interviews.
  • Write video headlines, descriptions and other metadata elements for videos and podcasts for on and off-site distribution with a focus on SEO.
  • Write compelling copy for social media posts with a focus on driving user engagement.
  • Fact-check scripts and ensure that all video elements are accurate and are delivered on time.
  • Ensure videos maintain the highest production value and all journalistic and legal standards are followed.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

You have:

  • Minimum of three years experience producing and editing video including working with talent and managing multiple elements.
  • Experience booking guests and finding sources for videos.
  • Professional experience writing scripts for news stories and explainer topics under tight time constraints.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • Interest, understanding and experience in financial markets coverage.
  • Exceptional news judgment.
  • Professional competency editing with Adobe Premiere and creating professional graphics utilizing After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work and solve problems under deadline pressure.
  • Strong communication, written and collaboration skills.
