Investor’s Business Daily seeks a reporter

Investor’s Business Daily seeks an experienced business reporter to join the content team at our Los Angeles headquarters.

Your coverage will focus on the publicly traded companies of the most interest to investors at any given time, especially growth companies that are outperforming the overall stock market.

We emphasize facts and data over tips and opinion. In fact, we have our own stock market database, which we’ll show you how to mine for story research and ideas. We’ll also teach you how to interpret a stock’s trading activity and price trends to deliver insights to readers.

Most of the job will be devoted to coverage for the Investors.com website. But some of your content will also appear in the IBD Weekly newspaper, such as enterprise stories on big business trends and market-moving companies.

The ideal candidate is broadly knowledgeable about business and financial statements, turns around stories quickly, writes effectively for the web and works social media to stay on top of the news and get content noticed.

Opportunities will arise to work with our producers on videos to accompany your articles. If you have editing experience or an interest in editing, so much the better! We value teamwork, and we have a constant stream of special projects and new initiatives that can provide another way for journalists to build skills and make an impact.

At least three years of relevant journalism experience is preferred, but we’ll consider other candidates with strong skills. A four-year college degree is required.

To apply, submit resume, cover letter and at least three writing samples. Writing samples can be links, attached as Word documents or PDFs, or pasted into the message.

Applicants may email or call 310-448-6373 to verify receipt of application materials.
