International Biz Times seeks night front page editor

The night front page editor is one of the most important roles at IBTimes, which strives to provide fresh and compelling stories to a global audience on a 24/7 basis.

In this role, the night front page editor will be responsible for continually updating the page with our best and freshest content, coordinating our coverage with our international editions and often assigning breaking news stories to reporters around the world. A key part of that role is maintaining our editorial tone, writing smart and engaging headlines and finding lively images to accompany the stories.

The ideal candidate has several years of editorial experience in a digital newsroom, is capable of working as part of a team, has great news instincts and has an insatiable hunger for great journalism.

Key Responsibilities

·    Keep the IBTimes front page up-to-date with the latest and most important global news at all times.

·    Identify the best content on IBTimes international editions and promote them on our front page.

·    Be vigilant about traffic, moving stories around on the page depending on their performance.

·    Assign stories to reporters and work with our editors to ensure major stories get the timely coverage they deserve and in a way that will engage users.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
