International Biz Times seeks breaking news reporters

The International Business Times is looking for dynamic breaking news reporters who can keep us ahead of the news cycle and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for journalists who can write with authority while connecting the dots for a global audience on all manner of topics. A strong understanding of trendy topics and buzzy keywords is a must. This position reports directly to the Breaking News Editor. The job is based in New York City.

We are looking for reporters to cover the following beats while also writing general news as needed:

  • Latin America
  • Diversity Affairs
  • Politics
  • Youth Affairs

Desired Skills and Experience

  • We require reporters who bring passion and zeal to not only succeed, but to define journalism in the digital era.
  • High standards of editorial integrity
  • Ability to write multiple stories throughout the day under tight deadlines
  • A proven ability to break important news
  • Familiarity with using social media for news-gathering and to promote your stories
  • Smart writing and reporting

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
