Insider Louisville is looking for an enterprising business reporter to join our editorial team.
The IL newsroom is fast-paced but flexible, meaning staff writers are given the freedom to go beyond simply reporting the nuts and bolts of a story. Reporters are encouraged to dig deep and analyze, with the goal of shining a brighter light on the news shaping Louisville.
We need an experienced journalist who can develop a network of solid sources and land scoops in areas including economic development, commercial real estate, and large Louisville-based companies (Humana, Yum!, Brown-Forman, etc.), among other business beats.
The ideal candidate also will be able to assist with editing as needed.
IL’s senior business reporter must demonstrate:
- an understanding of complex business issues
- an ability to write quickly and clearly on deadline
- a sharp news sense
- a grasp of basic grammar and AP Style
Five or more years of reporting experience is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to investigate tips, develop sources, analyze complicated data, break news, and write features.
Reporters must be able to turn around clean and accurate copy on deadline. Editing experience is a bonus but not required.
Insider Louisville is a locally owned daily news site with a strong focus on business, economic development and local government, in addition to arts and culture, providing a well-rounded information source for readers.
To apply, please send a résumé and writing samples to Sarah Kelley, editorial director, at sarah@insiderlouisville.com.
