Insider Inc. seeks audio producing fellow to work on podcast “Household Name”

Insider Inc. is hiring a paid audio producing fellow to work with its podcast “Household Name,” Business Insider’s podcast about how famous brands affect lives and culture. The intern will be based in New York.

The Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to Insider Inc. audience of millions, and by the end of six months are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This is an exciting opportunity for a fellow to be part of a small, but mighty podcast team. Insider Inc. is looking for a self-starter who’s passionate about audio, as well as business and culture reporting.
All our editorial fellows should have:
  • Experience reporting and writing (school publications are great)
  • A passion for digital storytelling and voracious reading habits
  • Familiarity with digital and social media
  • Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
  • Light HTML and/or Photoshop experience
  • Proofreading and copyediting skills
The ideal candidate will be ready to assist with hands-on production tasks including:
  • Research and fact-checking
  • Pitching story ideas
  • Booking and pre-interviewing sources
  • Social media and newsletters.
  • Recording and editing interviews, and rough mixes
Candidates should be familiar with audio recording and editing tools like ProTools and Hindenburg, and have reporting and fact-checking experience.
Fellows are encouraged to work 40 hours a week, and fellowships run for six months. Start date for this position will be in the fall.
