Insider is hiring a News Fellow to join our News team in London.

The Role & Team:
The Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling. They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers. This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week, we have offices in Old Street and are working on a flexible basis; you are welcome to come in, or work remotely.
This is a fully paid fellowship opportunity, with an annual salary of £24,000 and a 6-month contract from July through January 2023.
The ideal candidate is someone with an intense interest in general news and who is happy in a fast-paced environment. This person should be particularly enthusiastic about US and international news, and the prospect of working with Insider’s bureaus around the world.
As a News Fellow your responsibilities will include spotting and covering news events as they unfold as well as driving major stories forward. There is also scope for pursuing longer features and investigations.
This role reports directly to the News Editor and sits on the News desk.
The ideal candidate has:
- A passion for news (with a focus on US and international news)
- A journalism background and some experience of news reporting online
- An ability to write quickly and accurately
- A self-starter attitude and excellent organisational skills
- A love of Insider and what we do
- A desire to work as part of a global team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of social media and SEO
Additionally, all of our editorial fellows should have:
- A passion for digital storytelling and voracious reading habits
- Familiarity with digital and social media
- The ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
- Proofreading and copyediting skills
- A love of Insider and our mission to serve readers with the information and inspiration they need in a way that’s accurate, fair, fast, and fun
